How to File a Probate Process
There are two types of probate processes : Testate and Intestate
How to file a testate probate process – submitting a WILL
- Login to your JMIS account
- On the left panel, click on probate
- When it opens click on testate
- Fill the form and upload the WILL
- Submit the form
- The system generates an invoice for you
- You can either pay online with your cards and visit a bank to pay
How to file an intestate probate application(letter of administration)
- Login to your JMIS account
- On the left panel, click on probate
- When it opens, click on intestate
- Accurately fill the form and upload the deceased death certificate then submit
- On the next page, you are required to provide details of all the properties owned by the deceased moveable and immovable
- For immovable properties such as land or a house, you will provide the address of the land/house then select from a list of available valuers, a valuer that will go and evaluate the property
- Submit the form
- An invoice is generated for you
- You can either pay online or at the banks, using the generated invoice
Note: when you select a valuer to evaluate a property, the valuer will get an email form the system and then contact you on how to do the evaluation. You have to take care of whatever the valuer requires for the property(ies) to be evaluated and this includes his services charges(whatever you both agree).
The valuer has 7 days to evaluate the property and login to the system to update them.
Until the valuer updates the value(s) of such property(ies), an intestate application can not be submitted/completed.
When the valuer updates a property, then the owner(the person filling the process) can now login to complete the application process.
Please note that the court charges a 15% fee on the total sum of all the properties in an intestate probate process, so after the valuer updates the property(ies), the owner logs in and complete the process, see below:
