The Imo State Judiciary Information System (JIS) is a case management system that aims at leveraging innovative technology for the dispensation of justice in accordance with the Rule of Law.

The Judiciary Information System (JIS) provides the capability to register a new case by an authorized user through e-Filing. The JIS captures all parties' information related to the case and generate a suit/case number dynamically based on the case type. Users also can upload pre-filled forms and other related documents.

e-Filing is a means of filing a suit electronically over the internet through the Judiciary Information System. With this technological innovation, cases can be filed from anywhere around the world at any time. Legal Counsels can file from the comfort of their chambers, homes or anywhere so long as they have access to the internet. Individuals can also file suits from their homes or offices over the internet.

To file a lawsuit on the JIS the user must have an account. To create an account, visit the website www.imojudiciary.gov.ng, from the "JIS" menu dropdown, click on "Create e-Filing Account, then complete the form and sign up. User can now log in through the e-Filing account from the "JIS" menu dropdown. Once logged in, the user can proceed to file/manage cases through the e-Filing tab by the left side of the dashboard.

(a.) Legal Counsels or individuals are required to have a login credential by creating an e-Filing account before filing a case for the first time. Returning Legal Counsel or individuals will use the same account subsequently for the next processing.
(b.) Internet access.
(c.) Mobile Phone, tab or computer system.

The system will calculate the fee associated with a case automatically. The total Court Fee includes Court Fee prescribed in the Court Rules or approved payment gazette. The total Court Fee is payable online through Debit/Credit Card only. Other means of payment include; Bank Payment (require payment to designated banks) and Manual/Cash Payment (require walk-in to the Judiciary).

You can search for the case using the search box at the top right of the website. Click on the search icon, type the suit number and click search, the case will appear with its status.

After successful payment, you'll get an e-mail with the receipt of payment attached, as well as the suit number.

You will get an e-mail notification once your case is assigned to a court. Please, check your mailbox regularly for the notification.
