2025/2026 LEGAL YEAR OF IMO STATE JUDICIARY

The 2025/2026 Legal Year of the Imo State Judiciary was formally celebrated with a Thanksgiving Service held at the Church of Pentecost, Area H, New Owerri. The service was a moment of gratitude to Almighty God for His faithfulness and mercy throughout the past year.


Following the church service, a ceremonial parade was held at the Justice Oputa Court Complex, New Owerri, in honour of the Acting Chief Judge of Imo State, Hon. Justice I.O. Agugua.


The event was graced by several distinguished personalities, including the Acting Chief Judge of Imo State, the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, their brother Judges, Magistrates, Chairmen of the Customary Courts of Appeal, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), Chairmen of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) branches in Imo State, retired Judges and Magistrates, legal practitioners, judiciary staff, and members of the public.


Special guests in attendance included the Controller of the Correctional Service, the Commissioner of Police, and the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly—ably represented by the House Committee member on Judicial Matters.


The Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, was represented by the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Lady Chinyere Ekomaru.
