IMO JUDICIARY COMMENCES VIRTUAL COURT HEARING.
THE SURFACING OF THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC HAS PLUNGED THE ENTIRE WORLD INTO A CATASTROPHE OF MONUMENTAL PROPORTION. EVERY ASPECT OF HUMAN ENDEAVOUR HAS BEEN ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC. ECONOMIC, POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN DISRUPTED.
HOWEVER, MANY OF THE KEY PLAYERS IN THESE SECTORS HAVE RISEN UP TO THE CHALLENGES WITH PRAGMATIC MEASURES. THIS MADE THE IMO STATE JUDICIARY TO CONSIDER INNOVATIVE AND CREATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR SERVICE DELIVERY. A COMMON MEASURE WHICH HAS BEEN ADOPTED IS THE DEPLOYMENT OF TECHNOLOGY TO SURMOUNT THE CHALLENGES. PRESENTLY THE ACTIVE SECTORS THAT APPEARED TO HAVED SURVIVED IN THE MIDST OF THE PANDEMIC ARE SECTORS THAT HAVE LEVERAGED ON ICT TO KEEP AFLOAT. COMMERCIAL TRANSACTIONS ARE STILL GOING ON IN FULL SWING ONLINE. RELIGIOUS SERVICES ARE BEING CONDUCTED ONLINE INCLUDING THE COLLECTION OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS. EFFECTIVE POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS ARE BEING VIGOROUSLY PURSUED ON SEVERAL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS. IN THE MIDST OF THE PANDEMIC, THE COURTS IN ADVANCED COUNTRIES ARE EMBRACING VIDEOCONFERENCING AND OTHER REMOTE APPEARANCE TOOLS IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE.
THE IMO STATE JUDICIARY HAS EMBRACE THESE INNOVATIVE MEASURES WITH THE VIRTUAL COURT HEARING WHICH OFFICIALLY WAS FLAGGED OFF TODAY THE 26TH OF JULY 2023, WITH HON. JUSTICE NJAKA AT THE IMO STATE HIGH COURT OWERRI. THIS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTS A GREAT TURNING POINT FOR THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN IMO STATE.
